Buffet lunch @ $650,100...makes sense? Absolutely!

Mohnish Pabrai, an Irvine, California-based investor who models his investment style on Buffett's, won the right to dine with the 76-year-old chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. after bidding successfully, a bid that cost him $650,100.

Now, Mohnish will definitely gain from this tete-a-tete with the legendary Warren Buffet, not as much in investment advice as in publicity, a strong vehicle of Marketing communication more potent than advertising. This bid of his has put him on almost all top media spaces around the world. In India, it got him on the cover page of today's TOI.

What could be better than that. Everyone now knows Mohnish Prabai and most people who read the news report would go on to read more about him, out of curiosity, come to know of him and what he does at his company, Pabrai Investment Funds. In fact Pabrai invests more than $600 million at Pabrai Investment Funds, including $50 million in Berkshire stock.

Money well spent by Mohnish? Absolutely!
