N R Narayanamurthy on employees who leave

N R Narayanamurthy, businessman, human being extraordinaire on being asked (ET interview),

'When you left PCS (Patni Computer Systems) and took away the brightest minds, it must have rankled them. How would you react if Infosys faces that situation today?'

'It is the right of every individual to find betterment. We had 5-6 employees who left to form a company called Manhattan Associates. Even today they come to Infosys and we are good friends. If any group from Infosys wants to leave to start a company, I will try to convince them to the best of my ability to continue at Infosys, but if their arguments are better than mine, they have our best wishes. There are organisations which believe that anybody who leaves is an enemy. We are not like that....

people at teh top do a lotta talkin... [:)] i dun think it really makes a difference, cos tehy know that million others have stars in their eyes wen it comes 2 an open infy vacancy..[:)] n NM knows tat not every one who leaves and begins afresh can become an infosys or better.. [:)]

Tatz precisely why i don't believe in teh rags 2 riches story,,. cos if it really were true, every beggar should become a king, and there would have been a million NM's..

Besides statements form the top brass are always philosophical, almost prophetic[:)]the dirt underneath is always sugarcoated..

maybe it does make a difference...albeit a small one somewhere...

Jane...kinda can understand the cynicism...yet...y ?
styll at the lower rung.. i dun believe all tat much in the moving words of top mgmt- at teh end of teh day, these words are all abt power and money and manupilation.. Unless ya really make it big, no dumbf%#$ really gives a damn! When ya're low, the motivation is only imparted so that you justify your cost in the organisation..
BTW cynicism helps balance optimism:)

Maybe you're right...maybe cynicism helps in the 'balance'...or maybe you're wrong...maybe its just your 'frame of reference' (a particular perspective from which YOU observe YOUR universe)...maybe you've fallen for the 'confirmation bias' (Ye shall find only what ye shall seek)....

maybe....

Jane..good to hear that...
Thank you for your comments and your opinion about my posts...
its sometimes wiser to not be sure...to keep that element of doubt lingering about our own 'frames'...helps us be more empathetic...at least that's what I feel...

Bertrand Russell once said, 'The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.'

And hey...You have a way with words...its fascinating !!
