Comatose Pole and the New order

For all those opposing forces of 'globalisation', the comatose pole, Jan Grezebski, who woke up after 19 years, is someone they must listen to. His miraculous awakening has been credited to his wonderful wife Gertruda who cared for him all along, changing his position every hour to prevent bed-sore infections.

Speaking to Polish Television, Jan Grezebski remarked, 'When I went into a coma there was only tea and vinegar in the shops, meat was rationed and huge petrol queues were everywhere. What amazes me today is all these people who walk around with their mobile phones and never stop moaning. I've got nothing to complain about.'

Since the fall of Communism, in Poland, today there are more than 200 McDonald's restaurants, colourful neon has replaced the dim lights of communism, Poland has joined NATO in 1999, and has also become a full member of the European Union in 2004.
