Sensex makes history

India's benchmark share index rose above 15,000 points for the first time, today. At 1:23 p.m. (0753 GMT), the 30-issue BSE index was up 0.75 percent, or 111.04 points, at 14,971.14, after rising as high as 15,007.22.
