Fuel price hike announced

Petroleum Minister Murli Deora's choice of the term 'marginal rise', while explaining the fuel price rise will not cut much ice with consumer. The rise of Rs. 5 for petrol and Rs. 50 for LPG is way beyond the 'just noticeable difference' for it seem okay. Diesel prices have gone by Rs. 3.

Bangalore will be the costliest, with petrol retailing at close to Rs. 58 per litre. Many consumers may also heave a sigh of relief knowing that the rise in Petrol prices was limited to Rs. 5.
